As a plant breeder and global coordinator of the International Service for the Acquisition of Agribiotech Applications (ISAAA), Dr. Randy A. Hautea dedicated his career to improving the lives of smallholder farmers, especially in developing nations. He was also a trusted and valued advisor to the Alliance for Science.

Dr. Hautea died July 19, 2018 in the Philippines. A memorial Global Leadership Fellowship has been created in his honor, with John Albert Caraan named the 2018 Randy Hautea Fellow.
