Daniel Otunge
Daniel Otunge has nearly two decades of experience as a development communication expert. He is currently the deputy executive director of Science Africa, a science communication and training company that serves all of Africa from its base in Kenya.
Previously, Daniel was coordinator of the Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB), handling biotech advocacy and outreach for the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF).
Prior to joining AATF, he was the head of communication and advocacy at the African Seed Trade Association (AFSTA), where he helped establish and manage the communication and advocacy unit responsible for, among other things, a biotechnology outreach program targeting seed companies and national seed trade associations in Africa. He has also served as communications officer with the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA AfriCenter) where, among other duties, he coordinated activities of Biotechnology Information Centers (BICS) in Africa.
Daniel has taught mass communications, public relations, and development communications as an adjunct lecturer at St. Paul’s University, Limuru. He is a media and journalism professional, having worked with the Standard Newspapers and The Economic Review as a reporter and sub-editor, respectively.
He holds a master’s in communication, a master’s in philosophy, a postgraduate diploma in mass communications, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Nairobi.
