Lúcia de Souza is a Brazilian biologist who obtained her Ph.D. in plant biochemistry at the Friedriech Miescher Institute/University of Basle in Switzerland. Lúcia has extensive experience in teaching and has been active in biosafety since 2000. She is in the directory of the Brazilian National Biosafety Association (ANBio), and is directing Switzerland-based Cutting Edge Solutions. Lúcia has been actively involved in public research and regulation initiative activities since 2006. She recently became an ISAAA (International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications) associate. Lucia is passionate about different cultures, the environment and addressing social and environmental needs and challenges through innovative solutions.
