Kudzai Mafuwe

Kudzai Mafuwe is an entomologist and a curator for the Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe. She holds a master’s degree in tropical entomology and a bachelor’s in forestry resources and wildlife management from Zimbabwean universities as well as numerous certificates in ecology, conservation, biodiversity informatics and pest management.

Her research involves the use of biodiversity informatics tools to develop models such as risk maps of invasive pests and synthesizing them into decision-making tools and information that can be used towards sustainable agriculture and conservation in Africa.

Kudzai is deeply committed in promoting sustainability and is particularly interested in the use of agriculture biotechnology that can be adopted for sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation in her country. This includes the use of pest-resistant varieties to help improve crop yields and reduce the use of harmful chemicals.
