Kennedy Oyugi
Mr. Kennedy Oyugi holds a master’s of science in Agricultural and Applied Economics and a bachelors degree in agriculture, both from Nairobi University. Kennedy started his professional work in 2003 as Marketing Information Point (MIP) Manager with the Kenya Agricultural Commodity Exchange Ltd under the USAID-funded Kenya Maize Development Program. He currently works at the African Biotechnology Stakeholders Forum (ABSF) as the programs officer, where he is in charge of the forum. The role of ABSF is to coordinate and mainstream stakeholders’ voice in the development of biotechnology policy and regulatory framework in Kenya. At ABSF, Kennedy has coordinated review of the biosafety packaging regulations and developed a biotechnology monitoring and evaluation framework for Kenya. In addition to regular employment, Kennedy is the soy and groundnut value chain development consultant for the Kenya Agricultural Productivity and Agribusiness Programme (KAPAP), a program jointly funded by the government of Kenya and the World Bank to improve livelihoods of the farming community in Western Kenya. Kennedy has also consulted for the Nile Basin Initiative on cross border livestock trade, where he served as research supervisor and later as rapporteur.
