Germaine De Ruña

Germaine J. De Ruña was exposed to the plight of farmers and fisherfolk in the Philippines from a young age. These early experiences pushed her to be an advocate of social justice and she continues to engage with these communities as the regional coordinator of PhilDHRRA Luzon.

Germaine has served in various national organizations and NGOs as well as within the Filipino goverment. She also regularly represents the Philippines in international conferences.

Her current work inspired her to join the GLFP in order to have
a more comprehensive understanding of how biotechnology can be a tool to solve the problem of food insecurity.

Germaine views herself as a woman of substance and courage who reflects the ideals of a genuine, firm and progressive Filipino.
