Afrin Bintay Aziz Sharna is an agriculture extension officer at the Department of Agricultural Extension, a part of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Agriculture. Her Job responsibilities include popularizing and disseminating modern agricultural technology to farmers in Bangladesh, where most people depend on agriculture.

Afrin has been working to organize female farmers and encourage them to adopt new technologies. She has successfully motivated some female farmers to produce Bt brinjal there and the number of Bt brinjal growers is increasing every year.

Her keen interest in the modern innovation of science, especially agricultural biotechnology, led her to apply to the Global Leadership Fellows Program.

Afrin has a master’s degree in agronomy from Bangladesh Agriculture University.
