As a Guatemalan attorney specializing in international trade and aid law, Pablo Orozco has worked with private agricultural firms, infrastructure developers and his own government.
Now he’ll be spending the fall at Cornell University as one of 29 Alliance for Science Global Leadership Fellows in the 2016 cohort. Upon graduation in November, they’ll be joining the 2015 Fellows in continuing to grow a global network of science champions.
Orozco also uses his legal training to advance his passion: addressing social and environmental needs through scientific, technological and market innovations, and progressive legal solutions. He is particularly interested in the development of public-private endeavors, and assisted the government’s $233 million Transversal Corridor of the North infrastructure project.
As a legal advisor, he strives to ensure that his clients use best practices, comply with all national and international laws and engage in effective risk management strategies.
Orozco is a 2014-15 Chevening scholar, having received the prestigious award on behalf of the British Foreign and Commonwealth offices. He has a bachelor s degree in judicial and social sciences, and earned a Degree of Master of Laws in International Law with Distinction from the University of Bristol, England. His dissertation was on Social Enterprise in Guatemala: A Hybrid Legal Model.
Orozco’s unique background and professional skills make him an excellent candidate for the 2016 cohort of Fellows. This year, they represent 12 nations in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
